Why GiveWhile reading an article about making it in the modern music industry, I came across a section about gimmicks. The article primarily focused in the role they play and how they can help. That is to gain attention to the group beyond there music talent. Most often we see this manifest in the form of costumes, such as Daft Punk, Lady Gaga, Kiss, or David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust. The author encouraged upcoming groups to consider a gimmick to help their music stand out. I immediately began think about what sort of trendy thing I could call our gimmick, but nothing came to mind. I have nothing against the idea of gimmicks, it just didn’t seem to fit within the framework of what we are doing. You see, the more I thought about bringing attention to us, the more God put on my heart to help others. This is where 'More than Music' comes from, the ability to use our talents to help others. From this point forward we plan to give 30% of all Voice to Spirits profits to Churches and Charity’s. Rather than having a gimmick to push our music, we have a purpose to drive our music. |
